Beautiful Places in Malaysia | PHOTO INSPIRATION
The food capital of Malaysia. Unfortunately, we do not have any food pictures, because we were to busy eating, and that’s a pretty good reason to forget anything else in the world! However, we have added a few street art photos, and Penang is famous for its street art. Many travelers visit Penang just because of that, and the tourist boards have even created street art hunt adventure – walking tour maps to guide tourists through all the best creative artworks.
Update: We came back again and took a ton of food photos and sampled them all! More of that foodie heaven below.
What to Do in Cameron Highlands, Malaysia?
Another one of many beautiful places in Malaysia is Cameron Highlands. So pleasantly chilly in the evenings due to the high altitude, Cameron Highlands is a great change of scenery. Especially taking into account the rest of South East Asia’s climate. The location is famous for beautiful hikes through the lush forests and its mouth-watering strawberries. There are strawberry farms on every single corner, and, I am not joking, we ate 2 kg of strawberries every evening. Another favourite thing of ours is tea, and Cameron Highlands has lots of it. There are several tea plantations where you can enjoy an organic and fresh cup of tea while overlooking beautiful tea fields.
Located in the proximity of Kuala Lumpur, Malacca is a historic port town, often overlooked by fellow travelers. Malacca has a rich history and architecture dating back to the Portuguese ruling era. Malacca’s distinctive treat is the flashy tricycles, lit up and decorated to resemble all the movie characters you can think of. City’s old town has some beautiful, charming eateries and the river cruise, that should be best enjoyed during sunset. Malacca old town somewhat reminded us of Europe, as the small cafes by the canal brought back memories of Italy.
The great Malaysian capital of Kuala Lumpur. Clean, developed, lively, central, friendly. We love Kuala Lumpur and it might be one of our favorite Asian capitals. The shopping scene here is amazing, as well as the food. The main reason we love Kuala Lumpur so much is that it reminds us of very clean, well-organized, a great city to work at. If we had to base ourselves in one place to work at an office for a while – KL would be it. And, even though, the cost of living in Kuala Lumpur might be on the higher side, it does not mean you cannot visit it on a budget and have a great time. Rent an apartment in one of the skyscrapers with gorgeous sunset views and you are good to go.
Did you know you can also go hiking in KL? Thus, if you only have a couple of days in Malaysia, you can enjoy your fair share of adventure and nature!
Malaysia Island Escape – Langkawi
Another one of our favorite places in Malaysia is Langkawi Island. Magical island close to Thailand, but just 1 hour away from Kuala Lumpur by air. The island offers not only unforgettable sunsets but also tax-free shopping. If you are up for some island life and a bit of partying – Langkawi is for you, as also alcohol is tax-free here. However, if you are looking for a place to enjoy the sun and some tranquility – Langkawi offers that as well. And you will be surprised how less touristy the place is compared to the islands of Thailand! We spent 2 weeks in Langkawi and didn’t feel like leaving.
We visited and saw so much more than the above-mentioned places, so this serves just as an insight into how much Malaysia has to offer. There are many more beautiful places in Malaysia that still have to be discovered. Next time, when you are having a layover in KL, perhaps extend it for a couple of days and get to know Malaysia a bit more! We suggest starting with having a look at the beautiful hotel deals Malaysia has to offer! It will definitely get you excited and eager to pack your bags and go!
